About Abbottabad and its location

Abbottabad is a city in Hazaradistrict of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province in northeastern Pakistan. It is located 110 km (68 mi) north of the state capital Islamabad, 139 km (81 mi) from Rawalpindi and 150 km (93 mi) northeast of the provincial capital Peshawar at an elevation of 1,260 m (4,134 ft). Two rivers, the Jhelum River in the east and the Kunhar River in the northeast, serve as the border between the Abbottabad and Muzaffarabad districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The site is located at an elevation of 1,225 meters (4,002 ft) above sea level (MSL) and is surrounded by green Saraban hills. It is located on the Karakoram Highway (Ancient Silk Road) leading to China, 120 km from Rawalpindi/Islamabad and 205 km from Peshawar.
